Bronze Nongalth
Nongalth had the misfortune of hatching directly after Partoth and his shape in comparison is sadly lacking. This bronze is large, yes, but he’s round in a way that hints at more than just baby fat and he’ll carry this with him for quite some time. There’s a bumbling, clumsy aspect that doesn’t lend a lot of hope to this dragon amounting to much, however as an adult he will be powerful. The extra weight will solidify into muscle that will keep him in the air for what seems like forever.
Shy, awkward, badly forgetful, this is where Nongalth will begin and the initial stages of training will be painful for he and his rider both. Not for lack of trying, but this dragon will have such a hard time grasping the concepts that come so easily to the others and only consistent repetition and practice will have him keeping up. The problem is he is quickly flustered and easy to bully. A harsh word will ruin his ability to focus and it’s a slippery uphill slope from there.
But what he lacks in confidence Nongalth makes up for with heart. He’s a loyal and caring creature that really does his best. It may seem like he’ll be too slow or cowardly to fight Thread when the time comes, but as he grows and he learns to have faith in his own abilities he’ll prove to be a solid fighter that people will want to follow into battle.
Bronze Malastath
Malastath is a hunched up, kind of odd-looking bronze. It’s not quite that he’s got a deformity, but he seems like he may have been a bit too cramped in his egg or had a bit of a crook in the way he was growing. He is top-heavy with a thick neck and broad shoulders that are badly unbalanced so he tends to move with a bit of a limp to compensate. Flying may be a bit of a challenge until he learns to create the balance in his muscles to have any kind of grace in the air.
Malastath is foremost a wary and suspicious dragon. Though not timid, he’s almost always on edge and ready. Being on guard for anything and/or everything is his normal state of mind and there’s an unnerving way that he’ll stare you down as he decided whether or not you’re going to be a threat. Which most things seem to be to this dragon. As a hatchling this can be highly entertaining as he discovers his environments and the things in it, but if encouraged in the wrong ways could make him into a shy dragon that will have struggles in a world that is obviously out to get him. However, he’ll know his work once he comes to understand it. He’ll be one of the quickest learners and show a solid mind for practical strategy when it comes to fighting Thread.
Brown Verasputh - Claimed
Verasputh is a large, dark brown, so dark that he comfortably blends into the shadows when he wants. He seems a bit larger than he actually is because his wings are quite oversized and held in a way to make him look more intimidating. He might not be one of the leading metallics colours, but he looms and can be quite frightening when he wants to be.
This is a dragon that’s not meant to be crossed. He’s highly intelligent with a sharp wit and a sharper tongue. If it feels like he’s judging you, that’s because he is and it’s likely very unkind. There aren’t many that earn the favour of being liked by Verasputh and even those have a hard time seeing the difference… that is until they see what it looks like when he actually dislikes someone. His interactions can be scathing and harsh to those he doesn’t like and mildly tolerant to those he approves of.
However, sour personality aside, Verasputh with have an innate understanding of flaming that can’t be beat. He will have a sense about firestone grade that’s exactly appropriate for each dragon, able to sniff out the quality better than any of the others. The measurements of just how much to chew to create a certain type of flame will be precise and deadly accurate, as will his understanding of the exact muscle control needed to produce the desired power needed. Whether anyone wants to enlist his assistance or not, he will be invaluable and he won’t be a pleasant instructor by any means, but he’ll be able to get results from anyone who’s willing to try.
Green Rezenreth -Claimed
It’s easy to lose Rezenreth in the jungle, she blends in so perfectly with the vegetation around her. She’s a lovely mossy green with speckles of lighter colouring over her back, like spots of sunlight coming through the trees. But also, she can sit perfectly still almost indefinitely it seems like so it’s easy to forget she’s even there at all.
Rezenreth is a solemn and slow-moving dragon, but that’s not to be mistaken for stupidity. This is often the case with this green, however, because she’s very thoughtful, contemplative and honestly, a bit strange. Not that this bothers her at all, why would anyone else’s opinion be a factor when there is such a huge and wondrous world around them? She tends to look at everything as a whole and will skim over the smaller details, sometimes seeming cold because these are little and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Nature will hold a sense of joy and awe to Rezenreth and she can spend hours just watching the wind blow through the trees or studying the patterns of the stars. Silly small things like fighting Thread or political conflict will mean little to her when there is so much more to the world. It will be a challenge to get her to show interest in doing her duty or to focus on her lessons, but she’s a clever and studious mind that will have plenty to offer in a strategic position.
Gold Briguth - ADOPTED
Briguth is a short and stocky gold, powerful but certainly without the graceful lean shape that many of the other females have. She is however brightly coloured, with hints of rose to her hide, a beautiful and particularly feminine example of gold that outshines many of her sisters. It’s a disarming and welcoming appearance and she seems perfectly pleasant at first.
However Briguth is not a particularly friendly dragon. She may act like it and rarely shows anything but a sweet demeanor, but it’s mostly an act. This queen is an arrogant and judgemental creature that has very strict standards on what is appropriate and what is not. The colour hierarchy of her kind doesn’t seem as important to some of the dragons, but to Briguth this is law and one that you simply do not mess with. Everyone has their place, after all and truly it’s for their own good to remember their station in life. That’s how their small cousins have functioned for generations, have they not? That is the natural order of things and there is no reason that they should attempt to change that simply because they’ve grown larger and smarter. Now they are intelligent enough to know these things, instead of them being a basic natural instinct. To her it only makes sense, that is how they will prosper. She is a highly intolerant dragon that will shy away from anything that seems like it doesn’t fit into what she views as the perfect world.
The role of the queens may be a point of contention because Briguth will be strongly against them doing anything outside of their feminine roles. No, queens most certainly should not be fighting and risking themselves, they are there to breed! They should be protected and cared for, not putting themselves into danger! It will be a vicious struggle to get her to carry a rider with a flamethrower, because why should she put her precious chosen in danger when there are grunts for that work? And don’t even get her started on the unqueenly beasts like Selfreth and… ugh, the stunted dragons are a waste of space hardly even worth her attention. It may be hard to find good points about this queen, but she is a clever dragon that could actually lead very well if her rider is able to help her soften some of her aggressive opinions.
Bronze Comalth - Claimed
Comalth is a pale bronze, nearly silvery in undertone but also with hints of greens rippling over his shoulders and proudly arched neck. There’s none of the brute stocky build that is sometimes associated with the larger males, no he is lean and not quite dainty in stature. He’s certainly not feminine, but he’s got a strong aristocratic look to him with sharp, well-defined features. Though very handsome he is a particularly cold and aloof creature that doesn’t make himself overly approachable.
Comalth knows without a shadow of a doubt that as a bronze he is the best. It’s literally in his blood to be above the other dragons. Obviously the queens are a different class and not to be counted against him, they have a different role and that is at it should be in this bronze’s mind. He’ll be very opposed to the golds doing anything other than creating more of their species, it would be demeaning to ask them to do anything else! He has a charming side saved for the queens and he’ll quickly learn that working his way into their favour will be in his best interest. Besides having the most powerful of them on his side, he’ll come to understand that the more he can have them choose him when it’s time to breed then the more he can promote his own bloodline. And he is the clear choice of the sort of dragon that should be passing on his genes, especially compared to some of his brothers.
There will be an instant dislike for anyone that doesn’t fall into line with his way of thinking and he has a fierce, jealous anger towards Partoth in particular. The other bronze is nothing special, only looked towards because he was the first hatched! Comalth will be furious to learn just how good is Partoth is in the sky and that will be a threat to him. Comalth will fly and fight well, but in truth he may be a bit of a coward when it comes time to really face the enemy. The idea that he can simply acquire larger and stronger friends/lackies and bully his way through whatever he needs to will only hold up for so long.
Gold Rydlath - Claimed
Rydlath seems to ooze the aloof nature that has been common with the golden firelizards to this point. Every muscle is held in a way that tells the world that she is better than everyone else, this isn’t an opinion it’s a fact. Taller and leaner than average she’s built more for speed than strength or stamina and she has an almost serpentine way moving even on the ground. Her hide is the palest of gold, enough that one might think of albinism more than this just being a varying shade. It’s obvious she’ll be a bit more sensitive to direct sunlight, preferring to keep to the shade more than most dragons in the heat of day.
Rydlath doesn't obviously form attachments to anyone or really seem to like anyone other than herself and her rider, which is sometimes true but she also is very reserved in showing affection. Her lifemate is a piece of her very soul, thus simply an extension of her and so is worth placing the highest of values on, but even bonds she may seem to form with others tend to come with the feeling that she’s simply tolerating them. She will be aggressively jealous of her chosen and it will take an incredibly strong character in the human half to keep Rydlath from being too controlling. An iron will and a show of power will earn this dragon’s respect.
Ambition is what drives this gold, and despite her outward attitude of dislike, she wants to see her kind succeed. To her the dragons and their riders are clearly going to be the superior species on Pern and she will work to make sure they are placed in a way they deserve. All of her kind are special, but she will believe strongly in and promote the natural hierarchy, not to be cruel, but that’s just the way it is. The chromatic colours are meant to be subservient are they not? Isn’t this for their own good? She’ll also be surprisingly concerned with any young she may have and be ruthlessly judgemental of any humans that think they can partner with her offspring.
Green Harlokath
Harlokath is stunning. Even as an awkward hatchling she will be a beautiful specimen of a green and everything about the way she carries herself shows that she knows this. Everything is a bit of a show with this girl and she strategically will put herself so that she can be the center of attention and looks at her best at all times. She’s a brilliant shade of jade green that glitters enough that she could almost be considered in the metallics class along with the bronzes and golds.
Self-centered as she is, one would think that Harlokath wishes she were a gold, but no, she really is very pleased with herself. Very. There really is little limit to her arrogance, because she knows that she adored and wanted just the way she is. And besides, how useful are those queens anyway, because they won’t be out there in the thick of true battle will they? That is nothing. Harlokath will loudly proclaim how amazing she is and will have a never-ending array of stories of her own feats of accomplishments that she tells with such conviction that it may take someone a while to realize that wait, she’s only been alive for three days how did she manage this.
Very little of what Harlokath tells you will be the full truth, though she’s always got a spot of accuracy somewhere in there. She’s a master of hype and embellishment and more than anything she wants to look good, but doesn’t tend to want to do the actual work involved. She will be the first to jump in and volunteer, the first to throw herself at anything because she wants to look like she’s brave or skilled but will find a way to weasel her way out of it without losing face. Truthfully she can rarely actually do anything of the things she boasts about and is quite cowardly, however this will be where a good partner can fill in the gaps for her.
